So what your saying is that I've spent £15 on a can of ACF50 and its no better than WD40!

It’s very tenacious, unfortunately it’s a **** magnet, I use it on leccy plugs etc only now

the last lot of thaw left all my stuff soaking in water . didn't have time to wipe it off so just sprayed the machines with wd .the water evaporated and didn't leave any rust was well pleased

I use WD40 because its easy to get and affordable from Costco.
I was sure I was about to learn that its rubbish but I'm happy with your result so far.

I grudge paying some giant conglomerate a ridiculous profit for a can of paraffin with some light oil in it.
I make my own, and so far I can't honestly say it's proved inferior to the over-priced and over-hyped BS 40 product.

bet u cant spray it on ht leads that are wet and stop arcing multipurpose use

I'll take a butchers on Friday and take some pics. I was going to do it today but got sidetracked.

Multipurpose use also applies to a dry rag.
I can honestly say I've ripped out any HT leads like that and thrown them over a hedge long before they'd need a spray of 'wondersquirt'.

I’ve replaced my ACF50 with XCP rust protection, very impressed so far. It is a thicker, stickier solution but has more staying power so better for long term, more hassle if you need to get it off.

No more updates really, I was going to take more pics but looking at it there wasn't any change and I couldn't find my camera as usual. If anything the WD40 was showing a little more rust than before. Now covered in dust and all sort of junk....

I think I need to do the test again this year but with the plate vertical as I think the thinner coatings will really struggle. I had my Tom senior sprayed with WD40 a couple of years ago and the vertical faces were rusty in no time.
