It’s actually pronounced « more - well - ham». It gets shortened to « Morwellam » as people think it sounds more authentic but it’s not. Used to live down the river from there and spent many happy hours floating around on the river near Morewellham.

So did I, not far away anyway, and we always pronounced it the other way, probably because it tripped off the tongue more easily after a few pints of Horace Lancaster's cider!

My wife & i spent our honeymoon near Twelveheads, too many years ago. I remember walking aross a field from the cottage we were staying in to a pub called the 7 Stars.
Of all the places we found the Kennal vale gunpowder works was by far the best, Tucked away up a lane in the village of Ponsanooth it is easy to miss.
It should be regarded as a marvel of the industrial revolution. The sheer scale & preservation of the place reminded us of a lost city in the jungle. Absolutely amazing.
