cordless wrench

im looking for a cordless gun to use on van/car wheel nuts,
and anything else that i need,
what is recommended? not pricey as leaving in vehicle if out just in case

Second the Milwaukee but depends on whether you've already bought into a particular battery technology. I recently had some tyres replaced at a local tyre fitter and I was getting the wheels off the Land Rover as he was quite busy. When I rolled two over he exclaimed how fast I was and then saw the impact hammer (the big 1500ftlbs one) and said "that makes sense now, can I have a go?". He did and just from undoing one set of nuts said he would swap over all his air ones for the Milwaukee (he already had a couple of drills), much faster and more convenient than lugging an air hose around. Think that's a good enough advert for them.

that's exactly the same as the one I use to snap studs on my lexus when tightening them up.

i got the milwakee 18V 1/2" its great I also have the 12V 3/8" but that wont do lug nuts

And it came out ahead on torque on in the review I saw using proper measurement tools. I have the Dewalt DCF899 and it's very good but I like air impact guns and I don't see the hose as being that big a deal but that doesn't help the OP unless he has a dive cylinder converted for mobile use.

The reality as already said if you already have one brand of tools buy the same brand of impact wrench.

If it's just for speed then even a standard impact driver with a convertor will do the job if you break the bolts/nuts first with a breaker bar.

i have a 30" breaker bar as well like the one above but i dont tend to use that bar much just the one above

Dewalt 899 - I’m looking for similar at the moment and this seems to be on par with the Milwaukee for power but is a fair bit cheaper to buy, especially if you already have compatible dewalt 18v batteries and charger

Dcf899 body only from screw fix is £159
Aftermarket battery 4ah is £25,
Dewalt charger £20.
So for a little change over £200 will get you a very powerful new nut gun.

Can the 'impact bit' be turned off on battery or mains wrenches? I have a set of adjustable car ramps that take some effort to lift by hand using a normal socket and bar but just need something powerful to turn them rather than 'undo' them?

Silly me...just realised I can use my power drill probably

I don’t think so, it’s not like a combi drill where you can turn the hammer function off - the impact bit is how they work at all times.
