One of the original 10.8 ones bit the dust after I badly abused it in the multicutter cutting an 8x4 sheet of inch ply lengthwise (only saw I had) I recharged it as soon as it was cool enough for the charger not to reject it at least twice. It did a job that was way more than it was made to do and got me out of a potentially very expensive situation! Cannot complain at that!!I've never had a battery fail yet
A few years ago I was recharging a Makita battery on the lounge coffee table when I heard a fizz sound then magic smoke started to escape. As I was running down the hallway to the front door with said charger and battery combustion and fireworks started.
It got launched across the yard where it continued to pull off quite an impressive display for quite some time!
I was so glad I was there and acted quickly, they really can be very volatile!!
