NOW THE milwakee 1/2"!!

• Nut-busting torque [Nm]: 1491 and I believe THAT!!

We tried every thing on adrive shaft bolt on a vw it was solid had to bolt disk back in place and lock it would not budge etc etc put my mil fuel on it just holding the drive shaft and not only, did it, undo it------- the bolt was out in less than 2secs !!

My snap on blue point air gun is more powerful than the makita, it has to be said, but for the lack of fuss I like the battery one.

Well I got the most powerful air one available in theory---- and it cant live with the mil with the 5ah--- its frightening !

I like makita too always have but they cannot compete with the 18v brushless fuel it is awesome I was at the wifes garage couple days ago and a tranny came in, oh matron !!, the wheels would NOT budge with anything they tried two new snap ons and air guns I have the most powerful air also , even a breaker bar, my fuel undid them like they had been done up with a 3/8 ratchet!! I cannot believe the 1/2 drive can stand the torque !! when a 24" snapon breaker is bending to max !!
I put a flywheel on a tr lister tuesday, 65mm socket iirc with it and could not get it any tighter with a 3/4 bar and pipe !!and that took with three people holding it all.
undo cap 1400ft nm I believe ??

Thats nut busting torque be very careful as milwaukee and other american use that term and it is only a theoretical term wheras the actual torque for the milwaukee is just over 1000nm which makes the makita more powerful its just word games but yes i agree it wont stay like this long and i have no doubt milwaukee will be on top before long

YES YES TOTALLY AGREE but---- that is 1/2"------ how the flip can the drive take it!! it MUST BREAK at some point ------has to be the impact effect and the socket combo, methinks. I am expecting all the time for my imp sockets to burst!!

Yeah thats why its so important to use impact sockets they are really soft and should deform and twist before shattering
Also means that cheap impact sockets are fine rhere a disposable item anyway whereas more expensive chrome sockets really are much better than the cheap ones i have sealey impacts and they where ridiculously cheap and im very happy with them whereas i would nt touch sealey chrome sockets

18v tools will only take 18v batteries, the same way 12v tools will only take 12v batteries.
You can get different sized batteries in each voltage, so an 18v battery could be available in 1.5ah or 4ah versions.
Just to complicate things some manufacturers chargers will charge different voltage batteries, so you can use the same charger for both 12v and 18v but other manufacturers require you to buy a charger for each battery voltage.
To make things even worse one manufacturers batteries will not fit another manufacturers tools or chargers.

This is where I was getting confused, thanks for the clarification.

I've seen the nut busting on the big Makitas being 1600Nm. Always higher than the tightening torque.

My DTW281 has a quoted 280Nm, but a guy on youtube tested it and its Milwaukee equivalent (300Nm?) undoing nuts up to 400Nm, the limit his torque wrench went up to. Both undid the nuts, the Makita was faster despite the lower rating.

If you run mine without load in forward and reverse, you can hear it's faster in 'lefty loosey' mode.

The 3/8 drive milwaukee is nice and compact , will fit in some small gaps.
I bought it to change discs on a disc harrow and loosened/tightened 120 M12 bolts with two batteries.
I used it last week to fit a couple of hundred tek screws with an M8 socket.

The pic below shows it second from back just in front of the 3/4 monster.

Milwaukee have a new mid weight coming out soon, which fit between the 2763 and the compact one

Milwaukee also do a 3/4" version of the 2763, I think the 2764 and it has 1600 breakaway, albeit similar tightening torque (just over 1000nm)

I think all the dewalt wrenches are available with facom branding and a bit more power
Use dewault batterys come from dewalt factory just slightly different

They are, now all part of the same group - Dewalt, Stanley, Britool, Facom.
Differences will possibly be internal - metal rather than plastic gears, better quality materials in the casing - Though could easily nowadays be the same tool in a different skin.,...

Yeah i know they are same company and mac aswell
But i think the facom or mac branded wrenches are slightly higher torque in the similar models from memory looking at the flier i think you get slightly more for your money with the facom ones but not 100%
I know the facom tools are in some cases 40% cheaper than exactly the same in a mac boxes off the van things like the 440 spanners

I've been using a Boschmann 1/2" drive,which I can't fault,just the batteries aren't great. But I've opened up the battery,and all it is,is battery pack that can be replaced. I haven't bothered to sort it out yet,as I have an airline in my workshop. It also claims to be 320nm of torque,there aren't many that have such torque

Depend where you shop. My local tool shop often has the Milwaukee 5ah 18v on offer at £99 + VAT for a pair.
Online seems to be around the same at most places

I'm somewhat skeptical of things such as batteries on eBay - it's easy to include the word genuine on a listing...

I am on good terms with a UK distributor who's far from greedy when it comes to markup. Now I don't know what he sells 5ah batteries for but say it's £100, he wouldn't be buying them for any less than £80.
So on that rough basis, how can anybody buy and sell them for so much less than he can buy them for...?

Speaking to another local company, they buy in kits and split them up.
I.e they buy the Dewalt cordless framing nailer and 2nd fix nailer with 2 batteries and the charger.
They sell as individual items ,in clear plastic bags ( as bare units), and then are left with the batteries and the charger.
I'm guessing , when they get a big pile of them, they sell off cheap(ish)

That £125 for the 9ah is very cheap compared to what I've seen them go for.
Heck of a battery too, got 2 in with my SDS max

I know I know------- you are missing the point ----- i got the whole deal for less than the supposed cost of three batteries
didnt know they did a 9ah now that would increase the usable nut busting cap, even more.
