I know I ask before but can't find the bleeding post.
now that I've got the money together I'm after a new drill.
what determine the power Ah?
got one in mind its a 3.0Ah this must better than 1.3Ah.
I only want to pay around the £150 or less.
lithium.ion battery of course
I dont want a dewalt ,I've had one of them and one battery didn't last long..

depends how you are defining the poewr, but its either of the motor or at thw chuck.... and with battery drills is largely related to voltage

18v 3-4ah is a good mix of price performance and weight ime

Ah generally refers to how long the drill will run for, typically higher ah the longer it will go between recharges, all other things being equal.

I've got the 3.0 ah Bosch one from Screwfix, good drill for the money. (£100 normally, sometimes on offer at £90 ish).

I've got two identical Dewalt drills. 14.4v and 4ah. They're really small, very light and last so long between charges that you start to believe they are magical.
I use them exclusively for metal work so they are worked really hard and have always performed admirably.
It think they are £150 each with two batteries when on offer at screwfix.

i have 2 identical makita drills and a makita impact driver all take the same batteries which i have 5 of because they are not lion had them for 3 years of so now but next time id buy lion deffinately

I Like my AEG, both 14.4 and 18V 3.0 amp Hr batteries, I think Hilti stuff has gone up to 5.00 amphr batteries --but that is all at a price., Still have bosch 14.4V and old Makita 9.6V---!!!!!!!!!!!! just recelled two 9.6 Makitas. 8 No 1.2 Volts 4.00 Amp Hr, from Hong Kong.

I've had a few dewalts and the batteries never seemed to last very long, I just stick with cheapy ones now, Aldi have got some on this Thursday, they actually no bad at all for the money and I give them a bit of abuse., I bought 2 about a year ago 1 has just failed and the other is sounding a bit ropey, both batteries still ok though so I'm buying another 2 this week.

I can recommend Erbauer from Screwfix, I bought their impact driver last year and have been very impressed with it, has coped with everything I've used it on so far.

ive had dewalt, makita, bosch, hitachi, erauber, parkside and a few others over the years the best so far has got to be the makita followed by the hitachi if i am honest some of the cheaper ones are bloody heavy and bulky

Only problem with recelling is the charging afterwards ...

It has an aluminium gearbox housing so it doesn't flex when used to its limit.
It only has a 1.3amp/h battery but there are 3 of them and a 10 minute charger which makes the drill light in use.
I paid £150 for it from Screwfix about 6 years ago and it's still going strong and has never let me down.
The hammer action is superb, not quite as good as an SDS drill but coupled with the blue Bosch Multibits means I rarely have to get the SDS out now.

On battery life... my makita 18v lion batteries are nearly 8 years old, only had 1 fail in that time

I'm a big fan of Ryobi One+ 18volt One battery fits all range. Most of my Ryobi tools are now pushing 10 years old, and get about 5-6 years life out of the Lithum-ion batteries

I don,t know why there's a problem with DeWalt stuff. The problem with batteries is the use and way they are charged.

I have DeWalt 14.4v/18v stuff at work and they are used hard, mostly everyday. (Last month one went in a muddy pond. Blew it out and dried it and its still going, but don't know for how long!) The batteries last about 3 to 4 years.

If you don't use them enough they will only last a couple of years, so if you don,t intend to use them much, go for cheaper stuff.
