Thought this may be of help..........
I have a 6 year old Bosch 14.4volt cordless drill that suddenly started to smoke! It had been giving off a smell for quite a while (reminded me of the smell of model train sets) so I was expecting trouble.
Stripped it down and decided to order a new motor from Bosch. I sent them an email and got a very quick response to say they were dealing with my query. Not heard by next day so I rang the power tool spares place in Liverpool and ordered a new motor from them - £32.00 they said 3 to 4 days.
Meanwhile, a few days later, I found a motor in my workshop that looked very similar to the Bosch. I managed to get the brushes out of both the motors and swap them over as the Bosch ones were worn out. Put it back together and Voila! One repaired drill for nought £'s
Rang the place in Liverpool and cancelled the order (they said that Bosch were out of stock anyway).
On checking, it seems that most of these cordless drills use the same '775' motor that can be had for about £6 on EBAY it's just a question of possibly having to remove the little gear wheel and swap it to the new motor... or just buy a set of brushes for a 775 for a couple of quid.
Meanwhile .....one week later...... I'm still waiting for a reply from Bosch
