What are you lads using .
I have Milwaukie batteries 18 volt
As well as 18 volt dewalt .
I can't have the noise or mess of a 2 stroke .
Just for cutting logs for a wood burner .

Are you within reach of a mains socket? My Makita corded is decent to use and not too noisy.

I have a Makita 353, works fine. I also bought a Parker two stroke.

If it is just for processing firewood you won't get a bigger bang for your buck than corded electric. They're not cool, but probably do the job for much cheapness.

I have felled some pretty large trees with a ferrex 40 volt one. I am guessing a 18 volt dewalt one would probably be as good as my ferrex circular saw only has to see a piece of sheet and it locks up.

To do any decent amount of cutting with a cordless saw you will need a crate of high capacity batteries. They are very hard on batteries.

My advice would be a corded electric saw, makita are one of the best out there.

As said what ever batteries you have the most of and the most amp hours. Short bar(10 or 12 inch), good chain and a file kit and learn how to sharpen the chain. I've got a 36 volt Makita which is about the same as a Stih/Huski 30cc saw but I would rather use the battery for general firewood unless it's more than a 1tonne dumpy bag full of cutting, then a petrol saw is better.

For hacking up large chunks to go on the log splitter I have a cheap corded one. Always use it in preference to my Stihl petrol, if you are working in one spot.

At home corded, will cut anything, won't run flat and way cheaper.

Just yesterday I dropped a near 30ft dead Elm and bucked it up on a single set.

DeWalt or Milwaukee, I’d wager the Milwaukee will be more powerful but will probably break before the DeWalt.

My mate has an AEG mains electric chainsaw based on a 9" angle grinder, he's had it for about 30 years now, just uses it for his log burner wood, this is the modern Husqvarna version.

We have a dewalt one it's slow but ok for small quiet jobs, I really need to get 54v batteries for it

Does the makita use two batteries at a time?
