This wooden reel of what I think is varnished copper wire has been kicking around my entire life - my dad used to be a armature winder (according to his 1945 Naval discharge papers) and this is the second reel I've tripped over. Probably last used to wind a coil for my crystal set when I was rather younger than I am now - maybe 45 yrs ago.
Last one I simply weighed in - is it worth anything or is weighing the best option? Scales suggest around 2kg as the whole lot is 2.3kg
I've still got another reel, this time plastic/bakalite if I need any
