My house is a 1930's build.
The doors all have copper plated, pressed brass, Deco style lock plates, 6" x 2". The knobs are octagonal, approx 2" dia, 3" length.
Most of the knobs have lost their copper plating along with some of the plates.
They're original 1930s fittings and they're staying.
It's been a long time since I did chemistry & I'd appreciate any advice from anyone who could tell me how to re-plate these parts. Do I just need copper sulphate, copper sheet (pipe flattened) and a power supply or do I need "nasty stuff"?
Would also like to plate the hinges but I think these need to have a base nickel plate as they're steel.
I intend to "dirty up" the newly plated ones, then give the lot a satin lacquer coat to save polishing them.
Many thanks
