I was wondering how would copper plating compare against galvanise for rust prevention? Im thinking it would suit my welding bench frame and possibly the top if I can find a big container (500x500mm² so not that big). It would have no problems with welding, or painting over.
The plan would be to use copper sulphate to electrolessly plate a single layer of copper first, then electrolytically build it up. The first step may be redundant, but is quick.
I imagine experimentation is needed. Might set up a test peice tomorrow. I know the deposition rate/current needs to be painfully slow to get a smooth even coverage, but once set up it could be left running all day.
