cooling bandsaw motor

been cutting some 145mm wide 5mm plate on bandsaw this eve.
motor is getting very hot is it worth trying to get small fan to fit to it for cooling or just take longer breaks between each pce?
got another 28 to cut
can cut box all day and it only ever gets warm.

it will get warm .a fan wont realy help if u have a clamp meter check the full load current and see if your exceeding it

Motors are normally rated for 76oC plus so unless you can cook an egg on it dot worry to much.

Turn the plate so its like ' l ' rather than ' _ '

I addition i would say make sure you are using the correct blade for the material and job in hand. In this case a coarse pitch or even a variable pitch blade possibly if its a home workshop type saw. The faster and more efficient it cuts the less time the saw will be running and less load on the motor.

Or just stand a house fan by it, I do when I have run my compressor / welder or somesuch in hot weather for a longtime, it does help massively, at the club in the summer we used to suffer the amps O.H. and shutting down 10k W per channel !! they had fans but they were not enough we got a few big house fans to blow at them and move the air round in the amp room and it worked.
