Coolant temperature sender wireing

i have a new temperature sender for the tractor, but what is the correct way to connect the wireing to it. Is there a special connector or do I need to solder it?

is it not just a direct replacment for the one thats in there see how that is attached ?

It should take an un-insulated lucas spade terminal but with the slot in the spade down towards the temp sensor so it goes on perpendicular to the sensor

An uninsulated spade terminal just pushes on them sideways.

Needs some baler twine to do a pukka job

And that’s why nothing works on the bleeding thing, if I try bodging Lucas electrics I really don’t stand a chance.

When I'm fitting them i usually get an insulated fitting and cut a slot in it for it to slide on, it's not necessary but i think it just looks a bit tidier.

Just be careful, this is one of those times where you grab the Stanley knife and say I'll just trim a bit off this and then spend 4 hours in a&e waiting for stitches in your thumb after the fitting slippes through your fingers
