Coolant pressure test kits?

I missed a Sykes one locally and looking for a car coolant system pressure tester. I have Mercedes cars with various different cap types so thats what it will be for.

I have had a couple of sets from amazon before and had to return them as they leaked.

I have had some other testers this brand before and seemed OK. Thoughts?

Update - rightly or wrongly I went ahead and accepted an ebay offer from the seller at £44 posted on the item above.

I will try it out on a couple of cars when I recieve it and report back. Hopefully no problems with cap leaks or bad pump when it arrives which can be common on these. Flip side is, if it works out of the box then it likely won't have any further problems if not abused and only light DIY use.

I usually drill an old header tank cap and put a tyre valve in it

The above solution is a tad more comprehensive for not a lot of money

Update -

I received this OMT kit today. As said before I am used to the brand - China stuff but decent enough. This kit feels very good quality for the £.

I tried it on a couple of cars and seems to be working good.



I did see very minor decay. Like 1psi per 3 minutes type thing. I dunked the whole tester pressurised in a sink of water and noted zero leaks. So I think its just tiny seepage at the cap connection. So some grease on the o ring for a real test would likely seal it all the way but still good to use as is really im probably fat too fussy about such things but did satisfy myself the tester, gauge and pump itself is 100% sealed.

So yeah- jobs a good un. Plenty of adapters. I have used the vacuum fill tool type before so dont expect many problems there.

I have still been looking for a Sykes Master kit and spotted one on FB today. I paid a deposit and will collect it later in the week Hopefully it has the correct caps for my current Mercedes cars which would be great. (The individual caps are about £45 each would rather avoid that expense if I can)



(These Sykes 315 series test kits are around £350 RRP! Hence I wanted a good used kit)

I was just going to say, that if you want a decent pressure tester, Sykes are the only reliable ones I've ever used.

I have a cheapie, looks like it has a few more fittings than yours, use it mainly on hgvs, seems to work okay, has saved me a lot of time when I have used it.

If you don't have the correct cap you have a 3d printer.
