converting ac arc welder to tig

Its common knowledge that arc welders can be converted to simple scratch start tig setups.

My question is: Can an AC arc welder be converted to AC tig, therefore having the ability to weld aluminium?

Not without adding an add-on HF unit but yes, it can be done and they can sometimes be bought very cheaply.
