convert a silverline 130A

hi all i am new to welding and this site and it is very good and informative, it possible to convert a silverline 130A glassless mig (cause thats the one i’ve got) to a gas one as i would like to have a goat trying to weld other metals/alloys and would need gas unless glassless option is available

Not sure if you could convert that silverline, if there's a gas valve inside the torch then it may be possible but if not then it would probably mean fitting a different torch or a plumbing a gas solenoid inside the machine. You'll also need to reverse the torch polarity to use solid wire and gas. That machine has a 55A minimum current setting so you're pretty limited on what it will weld, it will blow holes in thin steel and at 120A top end it won't be much (if any) good with aluminium .
Sorry if this sounds negative but I'd hate for you to spend good money on that welder to find it won't do what you expected it would.

i think i should check my spelling be fore i post always wondered what that red line was for ive already got the machine opps for me birthday so i can't tell the wife it's crap so im just gonna have to carry on with it as you may have gust am new to weldin but i wanna start to learn and this looks like the right place
