Considering a MiG welder in the 3Ph 450A range, But which one....

Hi folks.

Not today or tomorrow mind but soon enough I'm thinking of buying a 450A or thereabouts, Mig welder.
I cant justify Fronius or miller prices so I was looking more at the Rteck or Jasic line, and I'm well open to other brands round a similar price range but its more about the right machine then the money tbh, staying somewhat within the margins mind.

Have a look at Oxford machines made by TecArc in York. Simple but reliable machines. I have two ( MIG and TIG)

I actually have a 400A single phase oxford mig here that im using, and a 60A plasma from them, both good machines with no trouble ill agree but I'm looking to get something more refined shal I say.

Recently bought a Rtek tig and altho I havnt used it much id be well happy with it but I'm not brand specific, just lookng for the best that's available at middling money.

I'd buy a second hand Lorch, Miller or Kemppi etc inverter welder over any of the new options. Nothing mig welds as sweetly as a top end inverter. If you want a refined arc, you shouldn't be even looking at cheapos IMO

what are you welding with it?

I've got a big old (acient) Sip ideal 500 and it welds bueatufully

I think (from my amature prespective) once the mig is big enough and youre welding stuff thick enough there's less difference in the quality of the mig?


either way... mine was £50 on ebay years back - not much market for big old 3 phase used mahcines

Secondhand 3PH high amperage machines are generally reasonably priced because the market is smaller. If I had 3ph that is the route I would go.
