Laurel tree in son's garden got too big (massive) so he chopped it off leaving a 7' high stump for leverage, we dug all around it to about 3' deep cutting of all the roots we could see, put a 1/2 ton chain block from the top of stump to a full 8 ton skip and ended up moving the skip 4"towards the tree

Stumped (sorry) for what to do next we left it overnight and luckily the council came do the road surface the following day and the lads pushed it over with their JCB pecker for us.
Looks like it was just the weight of the intertwined roots and soil holding it there, then we spent hours cleaning out the soil and cutting bits off before we could fit and manhandle it into the trailer.
