Maybe you have special soap or the conifer sap is particularly bad? As I tried various soap-type products and was left with red sore skin from the scrubbing and still only about half removed.
I can confirm that white spirit worked well to remove it from my plastic saw handle and loppers. I used WD40 on the foam grips, they are no longer sticky but it affected the glue holding them on and was a nightmare to try and clean off the WD40 residue. I managed to work them free and wash/squeeze them clean in hot washing up liquid/water. Not looking forward to trying to get them back on. Probably try the old RC car foam tyre trick of coating handle and foam with contact adhesive then dipping the foam in washing up liquid/water mix as a temporary lubricant.
