Confusion

Hi so I've had a kende 150 mig for over 2yrs it's been great ,how I don't know but I've had no issues at all with it..
My problem is that I've cone to convert it to euro torch..
So on a durex and sealed super mig I've one earth and the lance.
On this kende I have 2 .. I'll upload a pic.
I've cut the old lance off as it's started to be a bit temperamental, so the lance has a thick black wire that plugs into the machine face depending on wire gas or no gas .
Then the actual car earth clamp plugs on next to it.
Is the lance big black wire the trigger earth . As its the only cable that will go to the euro connector . Diagrams will explain a little better I think. I only ever use copper weld that needs gas
The stripped back black wire does that go to the euro conversion??

Hopefully I'm correct in what I'm thinking, as it needs to be connected I think , on the fixed lance it has to be connected to use co2 ..

Both sides of the DC voltage output of your welder ( after the transformer and the rectifier ) are fed to the front panel. The positive output is connected to the back of the "GAS" Dinse socket, and the negative to the "NO GAS" one.

The feed in to the original torch ( lance ) was the black flexible cable that emerged from the hole in the front panel and ended in a male Dinse plug. For solid wire with gas, that plug went into the socket labelled "GAS" - i.e. the +ve, making the MIG torch and wire positive. The work return cable and clamp ( the "Earth" lead ) went into the socket labelled "NO GAS" - i.e. the -ve.

Now that you have removed the original torch and converted the machine to a Euro socket, the power feed to the Euro socket needs to have the same method of connection - a short cable with a Dinse plug that can connect to the correct polarity socket, depending on solid wire + gas or gasless flux-core wire.

So yes, you are correct about Pic 5 - the threaded brass guide tube of the Euro socket is the location to connect to the cut thick black cable. The other end of that short black cable has the Dinse plug, and it will go into the "GAS" socket.

It is worth mentioning that the metal parts of the Euro socket are "live" with the welding current, and so all of that must be electrically isolated from the front panel. But you knew that already.
