Yes it's a mess, a real bodge job made up of many different pours of concrete.
Nothing to do with me but I can't afford to get the whole drive redone so another quick bodge job is needed for now
My neighbour suggested this CBGB (cement bound granular material) that sounds promising as it's pretty cheap to make my own out of type 2 hardcore and cement and it drivable on straight away.

Sounds a bit like DIY version of Ground stabilisation, where they rock up grind your existing road / farm track reshape it, pour lime or cement over it, compact, and spray with water. Or a dry mix that sets when it rains.Yes it's a mess, a real bodge job made up of many different pours of concrete.

It's a dry mix, it's used for lots of heavy load applications like runways apparently. I reckon once it's wackered down it'll be good to go.
Its used as subbase material. I don't know how long bound material would last being run on. It's not very strong. The type they use for yards is a bit different and has sand and water mixed in and is then power floated too try and give the surface strength. It doesn't hold up brilliantly in a yard but probably would be ok on a drive if you could get it right. And you would have to hand polish it as a power float won't like the angles. And hand floating it will be hard work.
Unfortunately there isn't a miracle answer for this. One of those things where you can have.

Trouble is tanks don't extert a great ground pressure. Quick Googling and corroboration shows a Challenger 2 exerts about 14psi. Whereas my little 5.5t JCB 2CX probably does about double that at 30psi.when the bloke come round and i showed him the photos of how deep and what was layed and wackered down he said you could park a tank on there

Bit of a bug bear of mine looking for manhole covers as we've got several in the drives around the house and typically usually right where I need to put a wheel of the JCB when carrying something.
You get man holes rated for 18t. Surely that'll be fine given it's only a little 5.5t machine maybe carrying 2t at most. Yeah, 18t on a quadruple axle lorry with duals so only putting about 2t of pressure down on a wheel whereas if I'm carrying something on the forks there's probably 3-4t of weight on one wheel.
