Computer Room?

Her desktop and my laptop in living room with tv ,when kids are here they have a desktop in the bedroom ,i have a steam driven desktop in the "workshop", and a tv (news+topgear ).she also has a pure buisness laptop,sounds extravagant i think the newest is now 4 years old

I have my computers in a shed in the garden which serves as a electronics workshop. I use a linux machine as a server and a windows xp for technical work. It's nice and cosy in here - heat, television, telephone. The only thing I go in the house for is fresh cups of coffee .

I tend to sit at my desk in the office, but mrs tends to use her laptop in the front room, I prefer a desktop machine and real sized keyboards and a trackball so mostly my laptop stays in the bag. Theres a workshop pc but thats just for music and info looking up, ditto for the computers in the "computer (games) room", although again theyre for gaming so only have network connections for link stuff or streaming tv duties etc.

Got a PC in the front room which i hardly go on,to slow for my liking. Thats mainly for the kids and the misses to go on. Ive got my PC in the spare room upstairs which i use for downloading "stuff" and gaming. Im typing this while on the laptop lying in bed watching superman on the telly.

And tom, you remind me of my mate, he lived in his shed, had everything in there, whenever i went round there he was always in the shed. If i had a big enough shed i would do the same tbh.

I am sitting watching the telly at the moment. I use a laptop on my lapt while watching the telly. I also have a Toughbook in the garage, so I can look at PDF's and of course that includes surfing for them;-) I also have the usual desktops.

We used to have the computer upstairs till our daughter cam along, then we needed the spare room, so moved it down stairs.

Its in the corner of the living room now, i glance to my right i can watch the television too.

What i really want to do is get a decent laptop, and run everything wireless, but thats a waste of time now. Shes got an E-mac sditting on the floor waiting to be plugged together and fired up

well i have got the bigest bedroom as our office with my pc and my GF's one as well.
and as well i have about 4 lappy's around the place for when ever i want to use one. and i am looking at getting the htc shift soon so another lappy.

Me and the missus have rather battered laptops and the older three have rather newer ones, all wirelessed up. The two little ones have the use of an older hand-me-down desktop in the front room. My old desktop is used as a fileserver.

Hard wired ( security reasons ) Vista laptop allocated in office ,
Wifi office XP.space allocated in office .

My play Wifi Vista tower ....lounge , Vista laptop munchkins next to my set up .
Xp wifi laptop on the kitchen at her private desk (wifes work set up 0..she may migrate to the office in warm weather .

Office at present vacant due to heating being electric.. We may invest in an
Erbaspacher ( sp? ) out of a scrapped 24 volt lorry and set it up to heat the office on heating oil. ( need to find the dosh ca £150 max first )

It says control unit not working... Hmmmmmm trouble by the sound of it methinks .

studio has a dual cpu amd with 4gb ram and 1tb hard disks no tinternet

home single core amd with 3gb ram and 80gb hard disks with tinternet in living room

when the office is finished its a p4 with 2gb ram and 160gb hard disk, no tinternet again, at least not to start with

I have a dedicated computer room where I do most of my computing

I also have a wireless router that lets me use my laptop with built in WiFi anywhere in the house.. It has pretty good range so I can also use it in my garage/shop which is about 15 meters from the house.

I have a tiny 9" screen eeepc netbook with Linux that follows me around the house, garden/workshop. Apart from the excellent portability, it has amazing battery life for its size. About 6 1/2 hours. They (netbooks) used to be really cheap but the price seems to be going up because they are becoming so popular. Good for using in the workshop as it has no moving parts, apart from a small processor fan that only kicks in once in a blue moon if used in power-saving mode.

Needs a good clean. Its covered in little flecks of gold leaf from when I'm water gilding. It attracts any flakes that get into the air like mad.

My daughter moved in to start with, then moved out to her boyfriend's place, then moved back in for one night... before she got married
So since 2003 the second bedroom has been my playroom and home to my PC. When my last girlfriend live here we tried a wireless laptop but as she HAD to have cable telly in the bedroom we achieved it by a wireless link from the NTL box in the lounge... which was alas on the same radio band as the wireless router for the laptop... which wiped out the TV picture. Guess which had to go
I get round the problem of multitasking between PC and TV by the simple expedient of not having a telly!

At the new place 'er indrawers has her own office (she's area manager for a nursing home chain so on-call 24 hours, effectively) - but then I get a bit of space to myself (and the previous owner thoughtfully left me some entertainment facilities, although he did take the beer fridge!):
