Computer problem

Whats good anti-virus software ? Seeing as we are talking puters.

i use a one program for both in mine eset smart security on this one the other is kerpasky i think and thats free

for viruses i still go to trend micro and have it checked there always been a good site

Do any of our more PC tech/network members know of any type of reasonable hardware firewall that could go between the fiber bt box and the home network router. Not to bothered about emails and attachments as xp machines don't access that any more but my limited knowledge says that it would be good to be able to hide ports with a firewall and just be able to set rules to allow specific programs access.
But i don't know if that is possible or a realistic option.
Or are some of the nasties so embedded in with a normal internet web page that its not possible.

I'd suggest building a smoothwall or pfSense from an old PC and a couple of network cards.

and some mr kenwood, although most of the stuff that comes through is windows based now.

My XP and W7 machines work fine for my purposes, and when I do need a new OS its not going to me one with all the built in spyware and remote control options that seem to be part and parcel of MS now.
