Compromises of cellulose over 2 pack

Hi all,

Long time no visit here! I am after a bit of advice if I may, on respraying my car. Back in 2011 I fully resprayed my 30yo Alfa. It came out pretty nice after some rubbing down and polishing.

I only did 3 coats of 2 pack with an HVLP gun on top of the old paint (rubbed down to 600grit) and looking at it now, I wish i had done 6 coats! At the time I had space for a second compressor that was sat outside to run an airfed mask.

These days, space is more limited and I only have the 18CFM compressor but I want to spray the car again, but I want to do it bit by bit (one or two panels at a time) in the sping next year and ot in a day as I did previously.

Would I get acceptable results using a respirator and cellulose paint? This car is garaged and doesn't do many miles. What are the compromises or cellulose over 2 pack? Do you need to clear coat cellulose?

I wouldn't use cellulose in this day and age, unless you are going over an existing celly job and specifically want the same sort of finish.
There are other products you can use. I’ve not used it personally but have a look at some of the posts on here about the non-iso 2k.

The only thing cellulose will go over is cellulose, your in for a world of pain if you try going over 2 pack with cellulose.........

Thanks. It's been cured for about 13 years. But others have said it won't go over 2K..

would be fine to spray over the 2k , seems a shame to do it though

Thanks all. Nisocoat 2 looks great. I'll do a bit more research. It is a shame to spray over the 2K but it is quite tired and worn through in some areas
