Compressor soundproofing

Hi folks,any ideas about building some kind of soundproof for these compressors?was thinking of a basic structure that I could pull forward without a back panel on,but then suppose I would be defeating the object unless I sound deadened the brickwork maybe‍

Enclosing things means you get heat problems unless you go with tried and tested builds in my opinion.

Depends on how big your compressor is and how much use it gets (how hot it gets).

I made an OSB box and lined it with a couple of layers of the insulation the frozen cat food comes in (looks like rock wool but allegedly its made from dead sheep or something) and the compressor sits under the box.

Takes about 90% of the noise away, and stops the neighbours moaning.

Yeah I understand there would be heat problems.i have air vents to fit,but what about maybe fit a couple of fans in the top?

As someone else also thinking of doing this, how much space did you allow around the compressor? Is it running for a few hours at a time?

Only gets used for short periods normally (up to 30 minutes occasionally). It's got about 6" at the sides and probably 10-12" at the top. If I had the space I'd have made it bigger and probably double walled it, with the insulation sandwiched.

The inlet is the noisiest part on a piston compressor, fitting an inlet filter/silencer will get rid of most of the racket.

Pretty sure I've been in surgery in dirtier operating theatres than that guys workshop
