Compressor Sound Insulation Box

I have a Wolf AIR Dakota 14CFM 3HP 90 litre, belt drive compressor, same model as in photo. I'm looking into building a sound insulating box for it. I've Googled and seen a few ideas. I thought people, here might be aware of better designs or one I could easily adapt and be effective for my compressor.

A mate of mine bought one of those little plastic garden sheds they sell for keeping garden tools in and lined it out with 100mm insulation.
Lives round the back of his garage with the compressor in it and its inaudible from inside the garage.

If you could find a double walled plastic garden storage box (grit bin sort of size ) you could drill and fill the hollow bits with dry sand or expanding foam.

Just remember to put enough vents in it to let air in and heat out.

I have a pair of compressors outside the workshop. The roof is just a lean-to with felt on it and the 2 walls are pallets.
I can hear them running when I'm in the workshop but not loud enough to be annoying.
It would upset the neighbor's if there were any though.

As sound travels in straight lines you need to put baffles In front of any vents make them s shape as each turn of direction will make it quieter, also any Insulation if in sheet form can add to the drumming effect, I had my garage roof insulated with kingspan at the front and had a room at the back done in rockwool the difference was huge

It'd be the denser rockwool sold for inside internal stud walls (newish bit of building regs), I've used it to make Gobo's (free standing panels for "acoustic treatment" in studios/rehearsal rooms), they were just a frame of 2x2, chipboard on one side, rockwool in the space in the frame then covered the lot with hessian, worked pretty well so should do for sound absorption in a compressor doghouse?

Sound insulation is a good idea BUT make sure the compressor has a good supply of air for cooling . I know of a sound insulated compressor that seized solid due to over heating, that quietened it down

Dunno about that Wolf compressor, but a lot of the noise from mine is induction noise through the intake filter - I've seen larger filters fitted (robbed from cars/trucks) and they seem to reduce the noise quite a bit?

Cooling air could come in and go out through a pair of "labyrinths", rockwool lined boxes with dividers most of the way to absorb the noise but allow air to flow
