A cut up nylon pan scrubber would be safer than wire wool.

make your own breather by putting wire wool into a tube (making sure it cant fall in)...basically lets blow by air out and stops debris falling in..

I would have researched it more usually but I am extremely busy knocking up a customised item site. www.mistatee.co.uk but doing all of this while tidying the garage, sorting the compressor , looking after my grandson and trying to keep the wife happy is proving difficult.

It is however helping my depression as as long as things go well I feel fulfilled instead of just plodding along day after day after day same old same old.
