Compressor motor advise .

My trusty old ingersoll rand was fine when last used a couple of weeks ago , but the garage ( detatched ) electrics started tripping out the house rcd anyway after a bit of unpluging turned out to be the compressor . Now a cursory look put down to the hole in the capacitor

without doing any testing I must ad so new capacitor acquired installed plug in and rcd tripped , now I have done a bit of testing and it's down to the motor so my questions are ( bear in mind my limited electrickery knowledge )
1) from the pic I presume this is a four pole motor


2) its a beast of motor and 1.1 kw running at 1440 rpm do I need one this large , it's not run all day every


I need to find out the dimesions for " foot mount B and the keyed shaft diameter though I'm pretty sure it's 24mm ish .
any help would be great fully recieved .

2 pole and 4 pole just affect the speed. yours being 1440, it is indeed 4 pole. 2 pole is about 3000 rpm.

90 frame is 24mm in diameter and 50mm in length, with an 8mm keyway.

its probably a b3 foot

well that's some thing else I've learnt and I'm half way there , do I really need 1.1 kw .

1.1kw isn't that large. Stick with that or even larger unless you want to change the pump as well. The pump will be the deciding factor, installing a smaller motor will potentially overload the motor, unless you reduce the pressure that the compressor switches off at.

When I find a pressure washer that's fried a motor because of low volts to the machine and if the customer wants it repaired I usually fit a sightly bigger motor. The reduced load on the motor means less current load and usually less voltage drop on the supply (if its a1.85kw motor that's fried I fit a 2.2kw motor)

yes you do need 1.1kw. a modern motor will likely be physically smaller, but 1.1kw is really wimpy. for reference, a compressor with a 2.2kw motor on it wont run a sandblasting setup without help from a additional 1.5kw compressor..

that's about the same price as some 1.1 - 1.2 kw's on flea bay .

i would buy from lawson his long before i bought from ebay. and as noted, 1.1kw is approx 1.5hp. (1.5hp is 1.12kw)

I've picked up a 1.5 kw from a local ish compressor place ( shiremoor compressors ) nice people I've dealt with them before for other stuff and the price wasn't to bad so my money's gone local too . Now I'll have try and remember how I got the pulley of the last time . I'll get some pics if I remember . thanks for the advise gents .
