Compressor Filter

Hi All.
I need to replace the inlet filter on my old compressor , but cannot find one anywhere. Its a old circa 1974 Aircosse. This is the filter , wondered if any of you guys and gals can point me in the right direction , or am i adapting something else to fit

Contact an industrial filter stockist, they will be able to identify and equivalent by dimensions.

Mercedes, BMW, VW use them.

Looks like a hydraulic oil filter if its metal mesh ...

What ever you come up with make sure it will pass the correct amount of air to suit your compressor,I don't know but an oil filter may be too fine, I made one to suit my old York0Shipley from a Tupper-ware box filled with an oil moistened open cell piece of sponge, worked great but only used the comp for air tools etc and not paint spraying.

i made one off a petrol still saw can suck for england . another was rolled up filter material simlar to scotchpad and inserted it in the tube

why don't you try soaking it in cellulose thinners & blowing it out, ''with a compressor!!'',I cleaned my tecalemit filter out like that you've got nothing to loose, if you can't get one just make one out of scotchpads as ''brightspark'' says.

Yeah its pretty bad Tigler ... i reckon its the original from '74.
mymini... wow filter heaven , will pop down to GSF on monday and see if the guys will match one up.

Codger ... will try to clean it as you described , never thought of that got a gallon on celly thinners in the garage

You'll never clean it thoroughly, the debris impregnates the matrices of the filter media and despite cleaning it a proportion of the filter is choked. Oil filter is no good, it's too fine for an air filter.

This is an air filter out if a Tecumsech engine push mower. Many B&S have the same or a tapered one like yours. Any mower shop should have one cheap.

Thanks for the link tigler , i have just sent them a mail with the pics. I did try to clean it out , but did not look much better, would prefer to have a new one really

shame it didn't work cleaning it with cellulose thinners baderbus,as I said it was worth a try,it worked for me on my compressor that's why I mentioned it,I wouldn't put any old crap on this forum if I didn't beleive it was possible.

No problem codger , Any advice is good advice when you haven;t got a clue where to start , many thanks for the input.
Managed to get something similar from gsf the other day , not quite right but better than nothing, just above £5.00 though or is that the Yorkshireman in me lol
