Compressed air connectors on LPG/Calor

So I have a Calor gas bottle outside, a big 47kg bottle which I would like to connect to a number of devices. Primarily to a forge burner but also to a little gas torch for occasional soldering/light brazing.

Can I use standard quick change air connectors? Naturally I would be switching off the gas at the bottle after use but it would be handy to be able to easily switch between jobs.

Technically, yes (going by usa diy-ers on YouTube)

What about barbecue connectors as used on camper vans for an external gas point? They would be designed for gas. As Big Egg says, you'd probably have to be trained for Crufts, but whose to know.

I wouldn't hesitate to machine a couple of adapters though.

Not sure what this means, I just cut the pipe and fitted the airline fittings just as I would on an airline.

I didn't have any problems for a good while but they aren't designed to seal at the low pressure of propane and eventually they did start to leak. I didn't know about the fittings brightspark has posted about at the time I tried airline fittings but if I go down this road again they'd be the ones I'll go for.

Aren't fuel gas fittings usually brass to prevent sparks? Steel fittings won't have that feature.

A lot of caravans etc have Rectus 21 quick release fittings, The sell them in caravan dealers as well as on ebay, Lovely neat little units, I have them on all my gear.
