As mentioned elsewhere, SBS Trade Sales out of Essex have stopped selling their range of compact, DP (double pole), RCBOs. These had no fly leads and you put the supply / load either side. They were also 6kA rated. A typical SBS board:
On the surface a case of what's not to like and super, super neat. I don't know the ins and outs but imagine the business model just wasn't working in the face of competition.
As to the purpose of this thread then I went hunting for something similar. I believe the SBS kit was re-badged "DL" as in DeLong kit (still) made in China.
Onto Aliexpress, Alibaba, Temu etc and Chint is the only "known" make I can find but they're only available in Type C there.
I know full well this could degenerate into a "they're cheap for a reason", "probably an empty shell", "would you put your family's safety at risk" type thread but I don't want that to happen. Privately I think we in the West are often paying a premium for the same stuff and it's just supporting the Chinese economy. The "our testing standards" etc are much more stringent I now take with a pinch of salt.
As an aside, then Australia seems awash with these compact RCBOs with no flyleads. Hager ones I believe were even subject to a recall.
So on with the hunt. CHINT is available in the UK as a brand I've seen but not in the compact form. This is typical I've found, only Type C. Type C seems more common on these sites?
(I had half a thought to buy a CHINT enclosure here then populate with RCBOs from China).
TOMZN seems a contender. I see some UK solar PV places sell the breakers but at a premium:
I can't see TOMZN enclosures available through.
EARU, GEYA, DIHOOL, TONGOU etc are all unknown names I'm coming across. "CHYTI" is a name that made me chuckle. As in "I've got a CHYTI consumer unit!"
If anyone's Google fu is better than mine and they can find CHINT in Type B then please do.
Yes, I know somebody will say "Just buy Fusebox!"
Cheers
