Hi all, I posted this at the end of another 220 thread but thought a new thread would be better. Here it is:
Hi all, following on from this thread, I have the same welder (compact 220), but different electrical problem. Can any one help, it's driving me crazy!?
Basically, when I weld, there seems to be an enormous amount of energy, doesn't matter which of the 6 settings on the switch. I have checked the stepper switch and is working correctly, the wiring on the switch is also good. It's like it boils the steel. VERY occasionally, it will randomly weld as smooth as it should, but will revert to same on next run. Gas is good, wire/wire feed good. When welding it's very loud, high pitch sort of cracking. Any ideas? Cheers Scott
