direct line are busy screwing my missus over with her mini insurance, and are being so intenely unhelpul in the process i would recommend avoiding them, personally.
Internet search about 2 days before it expires,go through the lot,i know it'll drive you nuts filling out all the forms over and over again, but i do this every year i get between £10-£20 less than before, now down to £185 full com,6yrs NC,sole trader use, windscreen cover(transit van),hit the main insurers not the brokers then haggle the toss with em.
Or you could tell fibs and say PLG blah blah blah
I had a transit with them and te insurance was peanuts, had classic insurance with them for ten years and no problems, they actually answer the phone when you ring too
I've been using Martin Lewis' site for the last 3-4 years and got some good deals. Usually takes about an hour to fill details in the various links.
Found Aviva over £100 cheaper than "best of the rest" last year.
Dont touch lancaster insurance, cancelled the policy, and they still took money from my account, and now they have the nerve to send debt collectors after me for their charges and other jumped up rubbish.
We are now at the rock and hard place situation, in a face off and we will see who blinks first.
Insurance companies are getting like the banks were 12 months ago, 30 quid for this, 25 quid for that, 10 quid to answer the phone.
I never insure with the same company twice, this year I have saved over 300 quid by using the comparison websites, the renewal invitation was 640, I found comp cover with legal, personal accident/injury, breakdown and green card cover for 302.
