combi heating boilers are a presurised system working about 1 and a half bar presure so if u added a backboiler.there b no way to vent the expansionIs it possible to have a combi boiler and a back boiler (baxi burnall) on the same system the combi would be used for domestic hot water and a stand by for the radiators while the back boiler would be use as the primary heat source for the radiators?
There is a thing called a dunsley baker neutraliser "google" it looks like a large I section with outlets .
I run a system using vented and pressurised in the same set up look at www.macdonald-engineers.com they are in Fife I had my tank made to take a Morso dove wood burner a Rayburn and also a Boulter burdens oil fired burner which is situated outside of the house. This also gives me mains pressure hot water I run underfloor heating on the lower level and radiators upstair, each room has a stat. to keep it at a set temp the outside burner also has a stat. which tells it if there is enough hot water from the woodburner and to have the rest of the evening off.
that was the point i was trying to make murex wants to ad to a combi without a tank not a conventional boiler with storage tank. megaflow do sealed systems y plan s plan but there conventional boilers or condensingNo it is not a combi it heats water in the cylinder as do all the others, the cylinder that MacDonald makes is capable of accepting closed and open circuits it had only been on the market a couple of weeks before I purchased one and had them adapt it to accept three heating systems.
I contacted them a few months ago about moding the emersion heater fitment to accept the heat from a ground heat source as I had been looking into that but not convinced that it is going to be a viable setup as the running costs are pretty high and installation is over the top. At todays costs you would be looking at around 20yrs for any return. Personally I think it is an idea to satisfy the greenies spoke to a few good heating engineers / plumbers and they are not convinced either.
the guy doesnt want to fit them hese got a combi tell him that. so i will say no more on the subject debate other systems if thats what u want to do. i wire the bloody things up every week whatever typeSo fit a pressurised tank, and expansion tanks. Simples!
it can heat the tank by gravity or pumped on conventional boilers combi s have no tank or a combi storage boiler which has small built in tank in boiler its self to feed a few taps at onceDoes the back boiler heat the water via a coil inside the tank by gravity with a header tank in the loft while the combi does it on demand and is pressurised ? It looks expensive but one of these might do it, or not
