COLD CUT OR BANDSAW?

Ok so following the good advice given I have taken a gamble on an Fleabay purchase, it is the standard Chinese close run by many suppliers including Jet and Axminster with the swiveling head and fixed vice. Collecting at the weekend and will require a tidy up and some fettling but pretty chuffed.

Just a little advice as never had one of these, is it preferable to use a cutting lubricant as matter of course? This model has no suds tray but could use aerosol or similar if it is beneficial.

I think you need to have cutting fluid really will definitely prolong the life of the blade and im sure makes cutting quieter and smoother. Mine had a drip tray but I converted it from 3phase to single and i used one of these bought from gumtree to supply the fluid and as a reservoir



It been running for a year now no issues

You don’t need cutting fluid,

The blade will last longer if you use cutting fluid or oil, I would think that most with bandsaws without the ability to use pumped cutting fluid, just use motor oil from a can, on the part, that’s what I currently do, it works fine.

I always use cutting fluid on steel - wd40 on aluminium - dry for brass or cast iron. I use a small garden sprayer as I am too lazy to fix the pump - I will do it when the warehouse is a bit warmer - 4c in there yesterday!
