chuck up a piccy, the master steadies are very "square" in their style.
Well it's certainly not square (I forgot we were talking about the late Master 2500 not the WW2 vintage one!) but it is of the same design and general style as the one on my Student. Here it is (right) alongside the weedy 5" centre height steady from my Boxford VSL:
A quick check with the tape measure suggests it's 7.5" centre height, I thought the Master was a 15" swing but a quick memory refresh suggests it's 13" like the Student. If you have a look on Lathes.co.uk the pic. of the Student/Master Mk. 1 does show a steady that's a dead ringer in style for this one - http://www.lathes.co.uk/colchester/page2.html but I'm now wondering if it's for a Mk. 1 Triumph as that is 15" swing and shares the same styling as the early Student/ Master.
