Cobel Cut40 inverter Plasma

Hi, i've recently got an inverter plasma to aid me in my vw restoration..... tried it for the first time today.... and only the air comes out and the OC light comes on on the unit itself...

when I took the torch apart this turned up

one if the consumables was burnt...

The unit is a COBEL SUT40 and an SG-51 torch.

whats happening ? how can i get it working ?

Is that tip threaded into the torch?
If so was it screwed in far enough to miss the outer part with the hole in it.

I must say I have only seen drop in ones.

Hi,

the electrodes do wear away. There should also be some form of insulation on it, a small ceramic washer (or ring like on my Berlan 40). You can get a pack of disposables off ebay and I can recommend a company called Shop River, very helpfull guys and a good price.

Has the cutter ever worked? Is it new or second-hand?

I'd try it without the electrode, nozzle, cup, etc, attached to see if the light (over-current) still comes on...but don't have anything near the bare end of the torch as it has a high voltage on it. It'll show if the set's faulty or if it's the electrode that's causing the OC light.

Found out what was wrong and I AM A PLUM..... i'd connected the air regulator up wrong... IN on the reg to IN on the cutter and so on..... why i don't know but i did.. but sorted now..
