Im about to start the restoration of one of my cars and was wondering how is best to stop rust appearing inside cavities after the job is complete, example inner and outer sills are removed and replaced with new, would stripping the new panels back to bare metal, coating the areas to be welded with a weld through primer then coating the main areas not being welded with etch primer
followed by a zinc rich paint then on completion (after all welding is done) giving them a good dose of waxoyl or similar inside be the best way or is there a better way? im fortunate enough to have a spot welder so the majority of the welds will be spot as per the factory other than areas which need a seam weld which brings me to another question where the sill is attached to the rear quarter would it be better to butt weld or to put a flange on the rear quarter and have an overlap obviously using suitable anti rust coatings either way, really only want to be doing this once
