Have an arrangement with SWMBO, she pays the rental (£5.25 per quarter), I pay the refill (my xmas and birthday present). By the time you've got the necessary connectors, not worth the time and effort. If you want to buy 2, let me know, you cover the costs-they're yours

have wondered that myself. they are the same fitting and the local fire extinguisher refill spot refilled my pub gas bottle

I'm sure there have been a couple of posts that said they have a tube that runs to the bottom of the tank. When the extinguisher is used liquid co2 comes up the tube and turns to gas as it exits...not very good for welding.
But they can be used upside down so the pickup tube is uppermost and out of the liquid co2.

I've used extinguishers for years with no problems, i found someone selling them for less than it is costing lately for a 2kg refill!

Although I do have a gas heater on my lilttle set up

I've got one in the garage i Bought for a fiver, regularly see them at car boots

Spoke to a local fire safety place and they are happy to re-fill it

I used to use RES in reading to fill mine up for me, as the engeneer would just hook it up and was happy that it had a yearlly test, not the case anymore!
The girls in the office insist that upon every re-fill it needs a full 'service' so now runns at £27 odd, time for a change of filler upper i think.

Remember our bottles are all 200 BAR ( 3000psi ) when you try to compare prices.
