Clunker Classic 2010

Stupid me I forgot to put up a post about this nonsense.

This weekend, Sparkhayes Campsite Porlock.
The Clunker Classic, a downhill race, featuring the most crap selection of bikes on the planet.
Shoppers are great, unbreakable, delivery bikes similar, kiddy bikes, BMX hmm, mountain bikes? not on your life.
This is for the truly stupid.
The plan, Drink, push drink push drink push, drink push, to the top of Porlock hill, then picnic/drink. Then a Lemans start down the bridleway.
Winner is the first to slap the bar in the Ship Inn, cue mass brawls in the street outside as bloodied riders remember the reason for this nonsense.

Plenty of this kind of stuff. Photographers welcome.

The racing is semi serious, contact does occur and cheating is welcome.

Bring something for the prize fund and hear Charlies occasionally hilarious compere routine.

Be there or be miserable.

North Devon this weekend.
Tragic stuff.
Look for the rabble at the far end of the campsite, ask for Charlie or Chunkolini.
Prepare to shed blood and skin.
Bring rehydration fluids.
Dehydration is a killer.

Were bringing the polo bike and I'm making a bike specially for this weekend. Both are fixed gear same as last year.

Polo bike - Gear ratio 24x15 ish. Ends up about 33 gear inches

Got back today.
We took a week of work school to chill out.
I came in a pathitic last, but I had an ok reason.
My son Cedric aged 14 has never ridden off road before and wanted to take part. he is an indoor child with unspoiled knees and no lust for danger.
he refused to let me ride with him wanting to get killed in peace. I was as scared as I have ever been in my life.
I rode each section and waited for him, gratitude? no chance.
But he survived and in the last 100yards my gears failed and the brat beat me.

A true hero.

No major injuries this year.

Lots of active 'unsupporting' going on. Eg hiding and dismantling of bikes anybody throwing a hissy fit encourages this type of thing. Best sabotage? seeing Cedrics bike 15 feet up a tree.

Favourite bike? the tandem see above. Much harder to ride than expected as frames of refrence have been removed, I think they crashed quite well.

A klot of new faces this year, I felt quite ancient, and what in hell where the pretty girls doing acting like this?

First weekend in July next year.

be there or be boring. Next year I ride for proper on my own bike.

Motorbike wheels on a push bike?

That would be silly, much better with a car wheel.
See this Tallmartin creation, the Fat Back Bomber rear wheel off a Range Rover, home made hub and the gears work. The man is a true genius.

Some mad yanks part of Klunker League Now had an old CB500 front end on a push bike, fitted straight into the head tube.

See Jared riding said machine. Hard to believe that he maintains multi million dollar fighter planes.

I have also seen pics of a pedal powered CB500.

Any home modded bike is for me the winner in this game.
