I think North Africa getting very dry is because of Everest and the rest of the Himalayas getting higher due to tectonic action.

It act as a water shed so gets all the rain that the Sahara would have got

Sounds about right. It was a good few years ago that I saw the programme. It started with aquatic animal bones somewhere inthe middle of nowhere. Think it was Libya (yet another place I've worked)?

But surely the timescale is wrong - Romans were kicking about the Mediterranean and harvesting their corn about 2000 years ago or so - whereas the raising of the Himalayas was about 60 million years ago.

To be 100% clear, just so as not to cause confusion, I am not advocating anything at all - I'm intending to do nothing more than demonstrate your lack of understanding of what you're preaching.


Anarcho Capitalism - if I want to buy your child, if I'm richer than you, sure, you don't technically have to sell them to me, but with enough disparity of resource, your concession is going to eventually be the only option.

Its that "taking"? I think you would argue "no" as there is transaction under the guise of option, right?



My point - you cant just make sweeping statements about socialism being the politics of envy, and throw in a comment about communism. Its tired, polarising, and, really, just shows ignorance. Just like the chap saying the earth had been changing for 800 billion years.

Overpopulation and pollution is the biggest issue the planet faces, in my learned opinion.

And greed. The massive accrued wealth of a certain few individuals is obscene, when a good percentage of the global population is living in poverty and hunger.

I have no ideas how to redistribute that wealth fairly, but it’s still very wrong.

One big irony...when cars and air travel where only for the rich, Climate change wasn't an issue. It's only when oiks like me got mobile and wanted more, that things went tits-up. We should have known our place and been grateful for it If only we'd stayed subserviant. We really didn't need the vote.

Except that it is: Take from the wealth creators and employers and give it to the bone idle and feckless. We tried it in the 70s and it took the Great Baroness to sort out all the problems it created, like 98% theft of earnings for instance.

The French did that in 1789, then found that they'd removed the heads from most of the Naval Officers who actually could manage to operate a man of war despite being aristocrats. Didn't go too well for them for quite a few years fighting us !

Then in a similar vein the German Nazi's scared off their elite scientific and engineering community as many happened to be Jews. The fortunate ones saw what was happening and escaped in time - fleeing to the UK and America and made very significant contributions to defeating the Nazi's.

. . .these things that have happened in history are worth studying and learning from to avoid making the same mistake again. (Hitler for instance DIDN'T learn from Napoleon and repeated the mistake of attacking Russia in the winter where they both came unstuck in a bad way!)

Answer the question please... Has the climate been changing since the big bang? How does your religion account for the Romans growing grapes in the Midlands 2000 years ago, or the freezing of the Thames such that markets were held upon the ice? How about when Dinosaurs roamed, I suspect that things got a little interesting climate wise and that is why they were wiped out?
