as can be seen very dirty is there a good way of cleaning it looked on line and give a few ideas it oily so a bit more then a going over with air I think its paper so that makes it harder
its off a very old rare mower but sorry to say not worth much at least i dont think
and the cost of other items needed to sort it back to a working mower means some things got to give
ive spent the last couple of months resisting buying any small engine as thats what i like playing with but the resale of most of them is a few cans of beer and fed up spending hours fixing playing searching parts and in the last 2 weeks dumping a couple of items that i had spent money on just to dump them this was a bit that sliped through seen it on facebook messaged the guy and would have walked away as he was a hide away dealer and ive learned if it was fixable its sorted and sold
but he chated for a few mins said he bought a job lot lot and this ones a bit old and he wont bother with it (prob not know much about them and how rare it is but hes in it for the money not fun)
any how i opened the fuel it stank looked round the rest of the engine and no signs at all he had played so i gave a 10er
an ali deak powered self driving with electric start and the age i guess 1980s ish took home and a coulpe of hours later carb sonic clean clean fuel tank and give it a chance fuel in the bore it ran
its just an bit of an odish shape wit it all there powered and electric start ive never played with so need to save money untill i get a good way through see if it worth it its a whooper 21 inch mower
Massey Ferguson dry paper air filters were washable back in the day. Soap and water from the inside out, being careful not to get dirty water on the inside. Then leave to dry in a warm place. Sounds bonkers, but I guarantee it's true.
I remember years ago I couldn't source the correct filter for a mower. The local lawnmower service sold me universal filter that was a block of closed cell foam that I cut to fit the housing. Then I oiled the filter & the mower ran perfectly ok on it for many years.
That being said your filter looks familiar. If you show us a pic of the top of the filter it might help. That looks like a briggs engine & there's not that many different filters for it.
I wouldnt bother with a new filter, engine blowby is getting on the outside via the breather pipe. Waste of time fitting new until you sort the engine or divert the breather pipe, may as well wash it.
