I've used scotch pads on go no-go gauges many times its a good lathe/turner who can machine to microns
They usually have quite a large size difference your not going to get a go no go gauge to say + =.0001 .0002. ! micron = .00004 inches lathes cant turn that round.
Gauges are not turned they are hardened and ground! Hence why they can be produced to microns and often are microns pending application. Read my post above.
Gauges are, as a general rule of thumb normally produced to 10% of the working tolerance of the part working tolerance.
