How did this axle job go in the end?
I'm gonna have the axle out of the Surf this summer for a de-rust and paint so would be interesting to know.

It is, of course, still sitting on the garage floor.

I borrowed a needle gun but wasnt that impressed.

And then a friend gave me one of those tin sheds, flat packed, so im trying to clear some space to set it up and then blast the axle.

It hasnt been top of the list though - its been for a chassis swap and im wanting to do this over summer.

I had this to deal with last week -

...but i think that is resolved now (was driving it today, and it seems ok, but probably too early to be 100% sure)

If you're going to drop the rear axle, it may be a good idea to drop the tank at the same time and give it a good clean/paint. Whilst the tank is out, check the brake pipes that run above it as there have been some horror stories about them corroding to the point they leak! It's an easy job to do.

I had this on my 2nd gen Surf, don't want to repeat it on my 3rd gen :laughing:
