Some of our "new" steel comes dirty rusty inside and out. Depending on the tube length, we use a flap wheel with a long extension in it. The extension then goes into the die grinder. I welded a long 3/8 solid rod onto mine and ground down for the die grinder. You can get some crazy speed wobbles but it works great.

i see alot of people use a grinder to clean metal befor welding. and it always bugs me what disk they use? are we talking a flap disk? grinding disk? cut off disk? maybe even wire wheel?

reson for asking is tomrow hopfully im going to start making my bull bar for my car. and the first thing i need to do is weld some 32NB (42mm OD) 3mm thick to some 5mm plate. how would i clean the inside of the pipe as well?

use scotchbrite or p200
