Cleaning Grit Out - Powdercoated Parts

I have had some hubs blasted back to bare metal and then powdercoated.

The hubs were masked-off but a small amount of grit has got inside.

What is the easiest way to get all of the grit out? Should I just blow it out with compressed air or wash it out with some sort of cleaner.

had this problem in the past and ime a fan of compressed air over cleaner..tried cleaning with my parts washer but the grit just sinks and gets stuck in corners,with the air its bone dry and will come out after a few mins but the only thing you have to watch is iff a few bits gets stuck in a bearing race as it will wreck the bearing in no time if the races are now fitted

Yes, compressed air, assuming the hubs were degreased before blasting, otherwise you'll have to degrease first. Grease & grit make an amazing grinding paste!

Wear goggles too.

As a rule I ask people to leave bearings in place (assuming they're going to fit new ones) so they protect the housings.

Wish I had thought of leaving the bearings in the hubs until aftwerwards. So obvious when someone tells you about it.

I will need to degrease as the hubs were blanked-off during cleaning/blasting. What is the best cleaner to use that wont affect powder coated finish? Thinking washing up liquid and warm water rather than brake cleaner?

apart from acid based cleaners dont think anything can harm a powdercoat,its more like a ceramic on tea cups and plates than paint..a jizer or gunk type cleaner will be fine

ps...when i used to get my motors powder coated i used to turn wood plugs on my lathe and bang em in blind holes and bearing fitted holes too
