Classic vehicle insurance?

Is there a certain age that a bike, car or vehicle becomes a classic vehicle?
I shall phone my insurance company tomorrow to find out what it is with them.
I have a policy for a bsa that is 55yrs old, I’m selling the bsa and getting a 27yr old ktm hopefully, so hoping 27yrs old will qualify.

Wouldn't it have to be in the 40 yr 'historic' tax and mot exempt class for that

The date is a lot more "modern" than you'd expect , depending on which insurance company you're dealing with.

I used to insure my 1992 MR2 as a classic car on an agreed value policy...that was 10+ years ago.

Insurer was Footman James I think... but I've no idea if they still do classics.

There's such a thing as "modern classics" but don't ask me who does them. It really is a case of ringing around the specialist brokers to see what they can offer. I've just had to do the same for my modified Sorento green laner (a lot of 4x4 specialists don't want to know or it's pricey) and fell over a broker who use the same underwriter as my old broker but are much cheaper. It was actually a condition that it had to be modified!

I've been with most of the specialists over the years but currently have 3 vehicles on a multi-car policy with Adrian Flux. The one that pushes the premium up however is the 29 year old Mini! The age at which it becomes cheap seems to vary between insurers so do shop around.

My classic insurance polices have required the car to be at least 20 years old if that helps. You also normally require a regular policy and share the details of it from your main car.

I have a classic multi car policy so I can have my main daily driver insured with tesco etc then my abbey autoline multi car classic policy with 4 or 5 cars on it at any one time.

You have a newer one my B40 350 single is 63 now.
