I have the chance to buy this for silly money but its 3 phase...does anyone know if these machines are single phase switchable? i dont want to start looking at the specs on the back as if the guy knows its switchable he will double the price

if i thought like that all the time i would be living in a caravan in the back of my house while there was 30 ton of machinery inside the house

it probably is switchable,but depending who made it,it could draw huge amps on single.

just be holding the arris end when loading and have a sneaky peek

I would suggest you go to view it & a quick glance at the plate will tell you if it will run on single phase. You can say you are looking what age it is & use that to get the price down - that is quite an old machine.

Just make sure it's working as you will never find parts for it. It will probably have a copper wound transformer so pay no more than the scrap price of the copper.

It will likely need at least a 32a supply to run at the higher settings, being a transformer based unit.

They’re two phase if I remember correctly. Not a great AC arc but more than usable.

You can run on single phase but with reduced output.
