If it won't pass through a normal/ fine kitchen sieve then it's too coarse. And yes I sieve before use to get clumps out.

i have some copper slag grit new bags its suposed to be 1.0mm to 1 and a half mil fine on big pots and jets. i run a 6.0mm and was having bother with it . ran a new bag though a sive and about a cupfull was more like 2 .0mm it works perfect after sieving
