I have just acquired a welder compete with a Clarke regulator like this: https://www.powertoolsdirect.com/clarke-regulator-for-no-gas-mig-welder The knob was very stiff. I removed it then found the shaft would turn fairly easily making two complete revolutions. I replaced the knob. All was well for a while but now it has gone stiff again. Has this passed it's use-by date or is there anything that can be serviced? Thanks Graham
They are rubbish, really. Not much you can do with 'em. The gas costs £1 per minute, too. Buy the proper size reg. and a 10 L bottle? https://hobbyweld.co.uk/products/hobbyweld-5-mig-welding-gas/
He's right - they're not good! Generally, you have to wind the regulator knob as far as it'll go to get any gas flow at all - and that may not be enough! All the Best, CJ
had one with my first Clarke welder, was awful and the gas was hideously expensive. I moved to larger bottles and a proper regulator after about 3 bottles. I know its an extra expense but I strongly recommend you consider moving to a larger bottle as your next move. It will be way cheaper in the long run and will improve the welding as the flow from those bottles is just pants.
